Our Story
Where Orchard Sweetness Meets Prairie Heat
Big Jim’s Feuding Peppers is where a little heat is a whole lotta fun.
Our story starts in two far-flung frontiers: the sun-drenched orchards of Michigan and the wide-open prairies of South Dakota, both stitched together by family, grit, and a shared love for what the good earth provides.
Mom grew up a city girl, but every fall she high-tailed it to the orchard to pick apples, breathe in cinnamon and cider, and taste the kind of sweetness you can’t find in town. Those harvest days planted a lifelong love for nature’s bounty.
Dad was a farmer born and bred. Early mornings, calloused hands, the steady rhythm of planting and harvest. Now, that was his kind of living. Working the land wasn’t just a job; it was part of who he was.
Then one day, Dad decided to till up the backyard, and that’s when the sparks really flew. That little garden turned into a pepper-packed patch with over 300 plants dancing in the prairie wind. That hobby grew into a passion, and then into a full-on flavor frontier.
From Our Family to Yours
Today, that backyard garden is the beating heart of Big Jim’s Feuding Peppers. We blend the sweetness of orchard fruits with the boldness of prairie-grown peppers to craft small-batch jams, jellies, hot sauces, and salsas worthy of any table.
We're a family-run business fueled by a love of peppers and a passion for creating unforgettable flavors. Most of our ingredients are locally sourced from our garden or the neighbors down the road. Each batch is slow-cooked, stirred by hand, and jarred with pride, because good food deserves to be made the old-fashioned way.
For the Love of Flavor
Whether you crave a bold heat or a sweet sunset of flavor, we’ve got a jar with your name on it. At Big Jim’s, we feud over flavor, not over who can handle the hottest heat.
From our kitchen to your table, everything we make is homegrown, handcrafted, and full of prairie heart.
Welcome to Big Jim’s Feuding Peppers. We're glad you're here!
Our Values -
-
Handcrafted Tradition
We cook as our grandparents did in a slow, steady, and intentional way. Big kettles, wooden spoons, glass jars, basic ingredients, and patience are our secret ingredients.
-
Flavor Over Fire
We love heat, but flavor always rides shotgun. Whether mild or wild, every recipe is built for balance and enjoyment.
Food should make folks smile. We think that playfully feuding over flavors keeps life interesting.

Locally Sourced - Sustainably Grown
From nearby fields tended with steady hands, every pepper and piece of produce is locally sourced, sustainably grown, and rooted in the land we call home.
